THE GRAND FINALS 2023-24

The Gozo Motocross Association organized the FINAL ROUND of the Gozo Motocross Championship 2023-24 fuelled by Enemed last Sunday 5th May 2024. It was a very exciting and interesting afternoon of hardcore racing with a huge crowd turning up at Ta' Xhajma Motocross Track to watch their favorite riders conquer the dirt and their competitive rivals.

Steve Xuereb, winner of five consecutive championships, is crowned a six-time Gozitan overall champion. Matthew Buttigieg, a two season winner, championed Class B following his success last season in Class C. Neil Azzopardi is the champion of this year's Class C. In the Junior Class Competition, Matthias Sultana is the first-ever Junior Champion at just 8 years old. For the first time ever, the GMA also gave the opportunity to several other rider members who train at the GMA track but have never competed. Female riders tested their skills on the track, during the event. An ALL-WOMAN Class was organized featuring Emma Xuereb, Kelsey Vella and Maria Camilleri. Unfortunately Manuela Borg had a slight injury to the hand and could not compete.

Also for the first time, Mr Frank Xuereb, coach and mentor, showcased 5 young trainee riders who showed their racing abilities on track. Philip Spiteri, Joseph Jacob Attard, Alexander Bierek, Ayann Grech and junior female rider Alicia Bierek, who are all part of the GMA Academy training program, showed great bravery and courage on track.

The day also featured an all-new e-bike class with 5 Sur-Ron e-bike riders taking on the dirt on their silent machines, creating a stark contrast to the typical noisy environment that we are so used to. These riders were Ben Spiteri, Craig Piscopo, Jake Camilleri, Sven Muscat and another female riders Isabella.

GMA President Mr Frank Xuereb, committee member Mr Scott Donovan and treasurer Mr James Camilleri presented trophies and momentums to all participants including all marshals.

GMA would like to thank the Ministry for Gozo for its continuous support. A huge thanks goes to our main sponsor Enemed and all the other sponsors without whose support these competitions cannot take place. True appreciation goes to Mr Alvin Scicluna at CVC media and John Busuttil, together with Mr Etienne Micallef and his team at Emergency Response Rescue Corps for their astounding services. We thank Mr Alan Xuereb for voluntarily communicating on social media and for anything to do with digital marketing. We thank our marshals and helpers who dedicate their time to the sport at each event. Last but not least, we thank our president Frank Xuereb whose dedication and diligence supersedes all expectations in the Gozitan Motocross scene.

Even though, training sessions continue, GMA now moves towards a well-deserved summer rest.

The GMA Championship 2025 will be back with a bang in October to initiate the new Championship Season in Gozo.
